Helpings of Hope at Nora Elementary School
On Thursday, October 22nd, Kitty Seelig (Executive Director) and Bruce Garrison (President of the Board) were invited to give a presentation on Hunger and ways that we can close the Food Gap in our society and in our local situation. They addressed four classes of Fifth Graders at Nora Elementary School and talked about the Poverty Gap, the Food Gap, Hunger, Food Insecurity, Food Deserts, and how we can practically address these very real problems. They were also able to introduce the work of Helpings of Hope to the Fifth Graders and the staff of Nora Elementary.
This coming Thursday 29th and Friday 30th, the Nora Fifth Graders will be coming to visit Helpings of Hope’s Nora Community Garden to help us paint, plant seeds, and learn about some of the aspects of gardening. We’re excited to see where this new relationship takes us!
